NEWS- The Police in Ntungamo district are investigating circumstances under which a Police officer attached to Muhanga Field Force Unit detach in Rukiga district perished in a fatal accident.

Police identified the deceased as No. 51580 PC Wilson Turyahabwe, male aged 40 years who died on spot after ramming into a slow moving motor vehicle Reg. Number CGO 5916AC22 from behind.

According to Corporal No. 31726 Stanley Wakibi attached to Rubaare police station who reported the incident, alleged that Motor vehicle Reg. No.CGO 5916AC22 driven by Marcel Mbusa Wangahemuka 52 year Congolese National and a resident of Kivu province in DRC.

Wakabi added that the motorvehicle was from Kabale heading towards Ntungamo side and on reaching Omukenyanya trading centre along Ntungamo-Kabale highway, motorcycle No. UFR 843/C being ridden by Turyahabwe, now the deceased heading towards the same direction rammed into the slow moving motorvehicle that had no reflecting signals. He died instantly.

The incident happened during the wee hours of Friday morning at about 5:30am at Omukenyanya trading centre.

Police team led by Stanley Wakibi visited the scene of crime, documented it and the body of the deceased was ferried to Kabale hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination. The motorvehicle is parked at Rubaare police station as well as the Motorcycle that was towed to Muhanga police station pending IOV inspection respectively.

The driver of the motor vehicle is in detention order as well as inquiries are at hand.
