NEWS- The Police in Rukungiri have registered a fatal traffic road accident that occurred on the 22/10/2024 at around 11:30Pm at Kyomera trading center in Bugangari sub county along Bugangari Bikurungu murram road Rukungiri district.
According to Kigezi Region Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate, the motor vehicle involved is UAZ 355L Isuzu Elf white in color, that crashed Edwin Akoragye 19 years old, a casual labourer and resident of Nyakinengo cell, Nyabiteete parish Bugangari sub county Rukungiri district.
It’s alleged that, the deceased was climbing, boarding the above mentioned motor vehicle while on motion, stepped on the rolling tyre and eventually fell down and the tyre rolled over him.
Maate added that the Police team immediately rushed to Bugangari Health centre where the victim was pronounced dead.
The driver decided to drive up to Bikurungu town, then handed over the vehicle to another person to deliver it to Bikurungu Police Station, on information that it caused an accident at Bugangari.
The scene was visited, examined and documented by a team of Traffic officers, the vehicle is parked at Bikurungu Police Station pending IOV inspection, and postmortem was conducted.
Maate told the press that inquiries are underway to ascertain the cause of the accident and a statement on a Fatal Traffic Road Accident has been registered at Rukungiri Central Police under reference number TAR 92/2024.
