Hon Midius Kaharata with women being trained on liquid soap making

NEWS- Women  groups in Katonya , Kafunjo and Bikogonzo parishes Nyakyishenyi sub county Rukungiri district have embarked on starting up income generating projects like liquid soap making for family sustainability.

The women told our reporter that it’s not good to put all eyes on their men to provide family needs stressing that such small income generating projects done within their groups will help them to increase their income which will foster development in their families on behalf of their husbands.

Francesca Kesande the chairperson Bikongozo Bakyara Tumanyane group said forming such women groups in communities help them to develop their families since they are able to raise their own capital rather than depending on their husbands .

She commended the Rukungiri district woman Legislator Hon Medius Kaharata for supporting women groups by empowering and skilling them in liquid soap making which will  help them to raise income after selling it  hence asking her to always visit such groups to equip them with knowledge and skills concerning women empowerment .

The members of Katonya farmers association group said these days they are focusing on the Emyooga and parish development model therefore being trained in liquid soap making will help them use their seed capital profitably because they are going to invest it in liquid soap making to double their income.

They asked her to help them in bringing liquid soap making materials nearer to them so that they can easily access them to help them develop their liquid soap making projects.

The Rukungiri district Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Natukunda Midius Kaharata advised women to start up small income generating projects if they are to increase   their household income.

She revealed that these small-scale projects will help them to get little capital than going to borrow in banks, Saccos, and small saving groups where some end up failing to pay.

Natukunda added that the skill of liquid soap making will reduce expenses in their families since they will use their own made soap and again get an income after selling it to boost their families and educate their children.
