NEWS– The Police in Rukungiri District have three family members in detention to help them in investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Vincent Byamukama, whose body was on Friday, 14th June 2024, found in his toilet.

Byamukama, in his 50s, was a resident of Nyabihanga Cell, Katonya Parish, Nyakishenyi Sub County in Rukungiri District and had been missing since Sunday, 9th June 2024.

Suspicious of Byamukama’s mysterious disappearance, residents conducted a search around his home until they discovered his body in the toilet, along with his clothes and bedding materials.

The discovery prompted residents to alert Police from Kilimbe Police Post and Nyakishenyi Police Post.

The authorities subsequently arrested the deceased’s wife, Everina Mutesigensi, in her 40s, his son Akanyijuka Moses, in his 20s, and a daughter identified only as Hilda, in her 30s.

Residents allege that the family had longstanding disagreements, which led them to conduct the search after noticing the wife pretending to be busy while her husband was missing.

By the time of this story publication, homicide detectives from Rukungiri Central Police Station had arrived at the scene, with further comments pending.
