The Police in Rukungiri District have arrested two suspects following the alleged murder of a 23 years old man identified as Sunday Innocent Akim, a resident of Ncwera Village in Rweshama Parish in Bwambara Sub-county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the arrest of the two suspects and identified them as Mujuni Moses and his wife Mugabirwe Goodrah.
Maate told journalists today June 2nd 2025 that t’s alleged that Mugabirwe, who is the closest neighbor to Tusiime Harriet the wife to deceased went home while drunk and she started abusing Tusiime, telling her that she will not give birth to her pregnancy.
It is reported that at that moment, Mugabirwe’s husband Moses Mujuni who was in his bed listening to what was taking place outside and he woke up and jointly continued abusing Tusiime Harriet and this prompted her to call the husband Innocent Akim and informed him of what was taking place.
The deceased Inocent Akim went home and found the three still quarreling and tried to intervene in the defense of his wife and that is when he was entering his room of residence, that Mujuni pulled him outside and started fighting him.
In the process, Mujuni called his wife Mugabirwe to bring for him a knife and kill Innocent Akim, which the wife did, which he used to stab the deceased around the neck and the deceased fell down and died instantly before being taken to the hospital.
A case of alleged murder was reported at Rwenshama Police Station, the scene of crime was examined and documented, statements were recorded from witnesses and the two suspects were henceforth arrested and a postmortem examination was done and body handed over to relatives for burial as inquiries continue.
