NEWS- In a significant gesture of support for local communities, Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament on Tuesday fulfilled his pledge to provide 87 iron sheets worth 4 million shillings for the roofing of catechist’s house at Nyamayenje Catholic Church in the Southern Division of Rukungiri Municipality.

This initiative is part of Dr. Rutahigwa’s ongoing commitment to improving the living conditions of constituents and supporting local church initiatives.

The legislator officially handed over the donation to Church administrators at the church premises, where a section of parishioners and local leaders gathered to witness the event.

Rutahigwa pointed out that this gesture is also a contributor to the area’s development since the Christians had to raise the funds from their pockets if he hadn’t. He’s however optimistic that what they would have contributed to buy these iron sheets can now be put to their homes’ development.

Cue in…………………..Rutahigwa on donation

The Nyamayenje Catholic Church Catechist Mujuni Speriano, who has played a pivotal role in the church’s activities, expressed his deep appreciation for the MP Rutahigwa’s timely delivery of his pledge.

Elineo Karahukayo, the Church’s secretary for finance was grateful for Rutahigwa and promised to support him in his endeavor. Tumushabe Tereza, the Church’s chairperson couldn’t hold her appreciation upon Dr. Rutahigwa’s donation he had pledged on 17th March this year when he was the guest of honour at their fundraising.

Tukahirwa Izidoro, the area NRM chairperson and Church’s finance secretary, Annah Mpumwire the FDC member and municipal councilor flag bearer for Southern division stressed that it’s not all about the Political parties but rather a leader who will serve people’s needs.

The duo added that Dr. Rutahigwa is exceptional for he fulfills his pledges compared to those that promise earth on heaven and end up doing nothing.

The catechist house serves as a vital accommodation for church leaders and is essential for the spiritual guidance and education of the parishioners. Before this donation, the living conditions were substandard, which hindered the catechist’s ability to engage fully with the community and conduct church activities effectively. The provision of iron sheets not only improves the physical structure but also symbolizes hope and commitment from local leadership.

During the event, the Chairman of the Church’s  development committee also took the opportunity to commend Dr. Rutahigwa for his efforts. “We recognize the importance of this support and assure you that your efforts will not go unnoticed. The community is grateful, and we are committed to ensuring you remain our representative in Parliament in the upcoming elections,” he remarked. This sentiment reflects a growing appreciation among constituents for the MP’s proactive approach to addressing local needs.

In addition to addressing immediate needs, Dr. Rutahigwa has been actively involved in various other community initiatives. His efforts include programs focused on education, health, and agricultural development, aimed at uplifting the living standards of his constituents. The MP has often emphasized the importance of community participation in development efforts, encouraging local leaders and residents to take an active role in shaping their futures.

The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing hope that this is just the beginning of a series of projects aimed at improving local infrastructure. Residents have noted that tangible support from their elected representatives fosters a sense of trust and encourages civic engagement.

As the political landscape in Uganda continues to evolve, the actions of leaders like Dr. Rutahigwa are crucial in building lasting relationships with constituents. His commitment to fulfilling promises not only strengthens his position but also enhances the democratic process by fostering accountability and responsiveness among elected officials.

Dr. Rutahigwa’s fulfillment of his pledge to provide iron sheets for the Nyamayenje Catholic Church’s catechist house is a testament to effective leadership and community engagement.

As local leaders and constituents rally behind him, it is evident that such initiatives can lead to meaningful change and inspire others to follow suit in serving their communities. The delivery of these iron sheets not only addresses immediate housing needs but also reinforces the importance of collaboration between elected officials and the communities they serve.
