This follows the concerns raised by the Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata, the Rukungiri district Woman Member of Parliament on the floor of Parliament regarding the poor state of Rukungiri -Ntungamo road and Kebisoni -Kisiizi road which needs urgent attention.
During last week’s Thursday plenary that was convened by the deputy speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Hon. Natukunda Midius expressed concern over increasing pot holes in Rukungiri -Ntungamo road especially at Kiborogota which has so far claimed the life of a pregnant woman who was going to give birth.
She told the Parliament that Roads in Rukungiri need urgent attention because UNRA has delayed working upon their roads like a long Kebisoni -Kisiizi road at Minera Bridge which has affected transport in the area hence asking the Prime Minister’s office to come for rescue.
The deputy speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa also says Mbarara – Ishaka-Bushenyi road is also in a poor state with potholes which put people and vehicles at risk.
In Response, Rt. Hon Robinah Nabanja the prime Minister of Uganda revealed that the cabinet has already prioritized rehabilitating and maintaining the already existing tarmac roads which have pot holes because it is not of any importance to continue making new roads leaving the existing ones breaking down.

Following this directive, works to rehabilitate these potholes along Rukungiri -Ntungamo road are ongoing especially at Kiborogota according to our reporter who visited the place.
