She told the Parliament that Roads in Rukungiri need urgent attention because UNRA has delayed working upon their roads like a long Kebisoni -Kisiizi road at Minera Bridge which has affected transport in the area hence asking the Prime Minister’s office to come for rescue.

The deputy speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa also says Mbarara – Ishaka-Bushenyi road is also in a poor state with potholes which put people and vehicles at risk.

In Response, Rt. Hon Robinah Nabanja the prime Minister of Uganda revealed that the cabinet has already prioritized rehabilitating and maintaining the already existing tarmac roads which have pot holes because it is not of any importance to continue making new roads leaving the existing ones breaking down.

Nabanja says Rukungiri -Ntungamo road is among the roads which will be rehabilitated, Kampala -Jinja road among other roads which have pot holes.

Following this directive, works to rehabilitate these potholes along Rukungiri -Ntungamo road are ongoing especially at Kiborogota according to our reporter who visited the place.

The deceased pregnant woman and her baby were laid to rest on Monday 1st April 2024. It is said that the husband and wife thought medication at Kebisoni Health Centre IV from where they were advised to seek for scan services at Karoli Lwanga Hospital Nyakibale since the one at Kebisoni is nolonger operational.

A one Niwamanya, the deceased’s husband who was riding the wife on the motorcycle to Kalori Lwanga hospital Nyakibale told this reporter that in fear of associated charges at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, they resorted to seek assistance from North Kigezi health center IV Rugarama in Rukungiri.

After the scan at North Kigezi Health Centre IV, the husband decided to rush her back to Kebisoni Health Centre IV for delivery.

During the process, the husband lost control leading to a serious fall that resulted in the death of both the mother and her baby boy at Kiborogota pot holes along Rukungiri -Ntungamo road.
