NEWS- Rukungiri District roads committee chairperson Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa the Rukungiri municipality legislator has condemned the Kigezi Uganda National Roads Authority- UNRA Regional Manager under the Ministry of works over deteriorating road state in Rukungiri District and Municipality.
Rutahigwa revealed this on Friday during the roads committee meeting at the District headquarters expressing dissatisfaction on the way sluggish response to the residents’ demands.
The legislator noted that the UNRA regional manager has never attended any roads committee meeting or even pick phone calls from the officials to respond to numerous queries.
The committee chairperson also listed some of the roads under the Authority’s jurisdiction such as Kebisoni-Kisiizi, Rukungiri-Ntungamo Highway, Rukungiri-Kasoroza Rwerere road, Rukungiri-Kabira among others all of which are in poor state.

Rutahigwa further stressed that the District is big and mountainous stressing that the amount received for this role is inadequate for all the roads hence the poor state in the area.

During the same meeting, the Rukungiri District chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama emphasized that when they continue presenting incomplete works in committees, the public will soon loose trust in the leaders.
Meanwhile David Zote who represented the UNRA Kigezi Branch regional manager stressed that the delay was caused by insufficient funds from the ministry, hence making their works slow.
