Resident looking on as Police van takes the Victim from the Crime scene

NEWS- Two people are currently in Police cells as the officers are hunting for other individuals who are alleged to have been involved in the murder of a 62-year-old woman in Nyakagyeme Sub County, Rukungiri district.

The Kigezi Region Police spokesman ASP Elly Maate identified the decased person as Christine Tusimomwe and the suspects in custody as Twinobusingye Monica and Kwesiga Jackson, all residents of Rugunda cell, Nyakinengo parish in Nyakagyeme Sub County, Rukungiri district.

Maate confided to the press that the murder occurred on Friday at around 9:00 PM while Tusimomwe was seated in a bedroom with Tumwebaze Benedicto. She was attacked with sticks and iron bars by Twinobusingye, her son Mugarura Gilbert, Kwesiga Jackson, and another unknown person who fled the scene, leaving both Tumwebaze Benedicto and the deceased in the house.

Tumwebaze called a boda boda rider who transported the victim to Kasoroza People’s Clinic, where she was pronounced dead before admission.

The police statement reveals that Tumwebaze and his wife, Twinobusingye, had domestic issues for seven years. They had separated beds and were sleeping in different rooms within the same house. This led Tumwebaze to form a relationship with Tusimomwe.

Maate stated that the incident was reported at Nyakagyeme Police Station, a case of murder was registered, the crime scene was examined and documented, and the two suspects were arrested as a postmortem was conducted.
