NEWS– The Rwandan Army have confirmed that their forces have killed a Democratic Republic of Congo soldier and arrested 2 others after they crossed into their territory in Rubavu District. 

According to a statement issued today by the Kigali government dated January 16th 2024, the incident took place today morning when the 3 armed Democratic Republic of Congo Soldiers crossed into the Rwanda territory located in Rukoko Cell in Isangano Village in Rubavu District.

According to the statement, two of the armed Democratic Republic of Congo soldiers identified as 30 year old Sgt Asman Mupenda Termite and 28 year old Cpl Anyasaka Nkoi Lucein were arrested by the Rwanda Defence Forces Patrols supported by the local neighbourhood watch also known as Irondo.

The statement indicate that the Democratic Republic of Congo Soldiers (FARDC) had in their possession one gun and 4 magazines with 105 rounds, one protective vests and cannabis satchets.

Its reported that the 3rd Soldier was shot dead when he fired at the Rwanda Patrol team although no one was injured on Rwanda side.

The statement which produced here in full indicate that investigations have been initiated to establish the truth about the matter.

The latest confrontation comes when Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi Thilombo is accusing Rwanda Government of arming the M23 rebels who have captured a sizable territory in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a fact which President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has vehemently and continuously denied.

By the time writing this story Democratic Republic of Congo government had not responded to the incident pertaining the killing of their soldier and the subsequent arrest of the two.
