NTUNGAMO- Residents of Rwentobo-Rwahi town council who were affected by heavy down pour last year in September were on 20th January 2025 compensated with relief items from the office of the Prime Minister.
The area MP Rushenyi county Hon Naome Kabashari applauded the quick response from the office of disaster and preparedness, stressing that had it not her cooperation with office the humanitarian aid would have delayed because the office receives more disaster responses since many counties do get affected.
Mr. Edson Turyasingura the mayor Rwentobo-Rwahi town council, he saluted the support from the government after their inquiry as leaders to come to their rescue after the disaster. He also thanked the government for its timely action.
According to him the affected villages are, Nyakashenshero with 205 households, Nyanga II with 129 households, Nyabugando I with 92 households, Nyakasa with 10 households, Nyabugando II with 107 households, Kanyonga with 246 households, Katooma II with 172 households, Mishenyi with 100 households, Nyanga I with 143 households, Omukibaare with households 86, totaling to 1244 households and all were present to receive the relief items.
The relief items were maize flour 20000kgs and beans 10000kgs from the office of the Prime Minister Hon Robbina Nabanja. He added that during the down pour, banana plantation, bean gardens and Onion gardens were washed away.
Mr Johnson Ndamagi LC I Nyakasa cell, hailed the unwavering support from the government of relief items after the disaster.
Ms Flavia Arinanye a resident of Rwentobo-Rwahi town council said since the catastrophe she has been up and down to make ends meet but now is feeling relieved over the support of food items.
Each victim received 15kgs of maize flour and 7kgs of beans.
