NEWS- Its yet another bad news for Uganda as 57 Uganda People’s Defence Force UPDF soldiers are killed in Somalia.

The news of losing 57 lives of the UPDF soldiers was on 11th September 2024 brought to light and confirmed by the Commander in chief and the president of the Republic of Uganda HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa.

The commander in chief said all this while on the inaugural 2024 Kampala Defence and Security Expo held at Speke Resort Munyonyo that was also used to honor the life of the late Gen. Aronda Nyakairima for his exceptional contribution to the country and his dedication to the revolutionary struggle and freedom fighting.

According to president Museveni, the tragic incident that led to the loss of these Ugandan soldiers is attributed to corruption among the officers.

It should be remembered that many UPDF soldiers are in Somalia on a peace keeping the “The African Union Transition in Somalia ” as authorized by the United Nations.
