NEWS- The Police at Jinja Road are investigating a tragic incident of murder by shooting that occurred on Thursday at Shumuk Aluminium Ltd, Nakawa Division in Kampala.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire told journalists that preliminary findings indicate that a security guard identified as Machugayi Emmanuel, attached to Ryayo Security Group Ltd, accessed a firearm from a colleague and, without provocation, fatally shot two fellow Security Guards.

Owoyesigyire identified the deceased as 27 year old Kakyebezi Ashiraf and Owechi Stephen and following this attack, the suspect retreated and later turned the gun on himself after realizing he was surrounded by security forces.

It is reported that upon receiving the report, the Jinja Road Police Division swiftly responded, deploying a team of officers to investigate the matter and the bodies were recovered and transported to Mulago National Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Owoyesigyire said that the investigating team also recovered two rifles and several cartridges but the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation as more inquiries are ongoing.

Meanwhile the Police in Kakumiro District have recovered a body of a 57-year-old man identified as Monday John, who had been missing for two days while floating in Mpongo Swamp.

The Albertine Regional Police Spokesman Julius Hakiza said that the deceased was a resident of Kamirabyoma village in Mpasana Sub County in Kakumiro District.

According to eyewitnesses, Monday went missing while hunting with friends on Tuesday and reports indicate that the animal they were pursuing turned aggressive, causing the group to scatter in different directions.

However his whereabouts remained unknown until yesterday morning, when a fisherman, Stephen Akugizibwe, found his body floating in the waters of Mpongo Swamp.

Kyakajunani LCI Chairperson, Posiano Mugisa, has urged residents to exercise caution near the swamp due to its deep waters and also advised parents to closely monitor their children and warned against allowing them to fish unsupervised.
