NEWS- Security operatives in Kasese district are currently investigating some families within Kasese town that are suspected to be collaborating with the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels.
Lt. Joe Walusimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner who also heads the District Security Committee made the revelation while addressing the residents of Kirembe Cell at Kyababinga Trading Centre where he had gone to commission the construction works of a road and a bridge in Kirembe Ward.
The RDC explained that their technical intelligence has pointed out that there are some families in Kirembe – Kyababinga Cell in the Central Division and Kyanjuki Cell in Bulembia Division of Kasese Municipality who are allegedly collaborating with the ADF rebels and harboring some bad elements in society at their homes.
He subsequently encouraged the residents to be more vigilant through reporting new persons that might be seen in their respective communities.
He, however, assured the people that the government would address the challenge of ADF revels through recruiting the Local Defense Unit (LDU) personnel from the different villages to man security.
Mr. Lawrence Bwambale, the L. C I Chairperson for Kirembe Cell, applauded security for always responding to their calls whenever they need help especially apprehending suspicious persons in the area.
Bwambale, however, asked the RDC to establish a police post in the area in an attempt to solve some security challenges since the area neighbours the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
In a separate development, the Bulembia Division Chairperson, Mr. Richard Bomera told the RDC that his division was grappling with challenges related to vandalism of electric wires and theft of people’s property.
