NEWS- The police in Bushenyi district have detained a 30 year old woman who allegedly murdered and buried her own daughter.
The suspect is Natumanya Edinah a resident of Muzira 1, Kabare in Kakanju sub – county Bushenyi and the deceased is Aijuka Mercy 3 year old biological daughter to the suspect.
It’s alleged that on 12th March 2024 the suspect strangled her biological daughter and there after dug a pit in the banana plantation close to their family house and buried her. She later rushed herself to Kijumo Health center two and called her husband informing him that she was very ill and wanted to remove the implant which was done after his husband paid Ugx 5,000=.
After removing the implant, they went home and the husband inquired about the whereabouts of their child before the wife quickly opened up to him on how she found their daughter strangled by a mosquito net and led him to the scene where she buried her. It’s from here that relatives were alerted, she confessed to them and they immediately took her to Ishaka police station where she was charged with murder accordingly.
Police visited the scene, examined, documented it , recorded statements from the reporter, witnesses for further investigations and the body was taken to KIU teaching hospital Ishaka mortuary for postmortem examination after residents dug it out from the soil.
The body was found with fresh wounds on the left side of her face, ablutions around the neck and found lying on the spine position besides the shallow pit where the suspect allegedly buried her after strangulation.
The Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson SSP Martial Tumusiime confirmed the incident to our reporter stressing that inquiry to establish the cause of death is still at hand.
