ENTEBBE – As we wind up the month , we are drawing closer to the final bend of the Francophonie month which is always celebrated in March.
As the adage goes, young generation is the foundation and pillar of any future, and in the spirit it is the same for the French language.
The Association of teachers of French in Uganda ( APFO) extended the same to secondary students and this was hosted at Elite School, Bwebajja along Entebbe road.
The event aimed at enhancing confidence, presentation and improving their learning through poems, dance and music as a simple a flexible way to master their French language skills.
With delight, Mr.Onyango Lawrence, the Head Master Elite School welcomed the students from other schools and thanked them for travelling long distances to grace their day in big numbers.
” I missed some things because I did not understand the words in French but luckily the teacher near me was a good translator and he saved the day by making sure I’m with you and I really felt home the way you should “. Onyango Said.
Calvin Olabo , Vice President , APFO, appreciated the schools for tuning up for the event and all those that decided to come and celebrate with them.
” We have schools that did not come from this region but have come to celebrate with us. The theme is ” Speak out” and in French ” Prenez La Parole ” and this what we are doing and the schools have done their part”. Olabo explained.
Agatha Tumwine, the President, APFO encouraged the students to know the French language so that the sky is not only the limit.
She also told them that French is a very professional, sweet , good and romantic language and they are nice teachers too.
Some of the of the schools that took part included ; Kisubi Seminary , Buddo SSS, Nabisunsa girls, Kitante Hill School, Watoto Schools, St Augustine College Wakiso, St. Joseph Nagalama and many others.
