SOROTI- Six Members of Pentecost Assemblies of God were on Monday 14th September 2024 arrested for sabotaging government programs aimed at elevating poverty in Tubur sub county, DAKABELA county Soroti district.
According to Soroti District deputy RDC Bakak Ronald, the arrested members of the Pentecost Assemblies of God include Ebwolu Moses (church pastor), Omolo Simon, Lookout Abraham, Anyaiti Julius, Abuko Sarah and Apoloti Jenifer.
The soroti district deputy RDC Bakak Ronald said that four more members of Church of Christ from Katine sub county in Sorot District Edweru Joseph, Nyero Aidah, Eyima David and Ebwolu Patrick are also under investigation about the same issue of sabotage of Government programs.

Speaking to our reporter after a joint operation with Soroti district Central police station, Bakak showed concern on how a church can openly fight government programs and projects such as Immunization, PDM, Emyooga, among others.
He said that whatever the NRM government does is constitutional and for the church to come out and fight any Government program is illegal and shall not be tolerated in Soroti district.
Bakak added that as the office of the RDC in Soroti District has discovered that different churches and Religions within Soroti district are strongly opposing government programs such Immunization, PDM Emyooga, PDM among others.

He said in the recent concluded Polio vaccination programme, they found out that two churches were mobilizing members and the community not to participate in the program.
The former Kabale district deputy RDC said that a Family in soroti District told them that participating in PDM Programme is not allowed and it’s also against the Biblical teaching.
He vowed not to let such churches in Soroti which are promoting poverty among members and community centrally to the NRM Manifesto of creating a middle income generating country.
