NEWS- The Police in Bulambuli District have confirmed that six people died and three others were critically injured when a vehicle lost control and rammed into a group of people near Sarajevo Trading Centre, along the Kapchorwa – Nabongo Road Junction.
The Elgon Regional Police Spokesperson, Rogers Taitika confirmed the accident and said that it involved a Fuso Fighter Truck that lost control and collided with five pedestrians standing by the roadside and the driver of the truck and all five pedestrians were killed instantly at the scene.
Taitika told journalists today that preliminary reports indicate the truck, which was transporting bananas from Kapchorwa, and veered off the road as it reached Sarajevo Trading Centre, crashing into the group of people and the identities of the deceased and the injured are still being verified.
“The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and crash into people sitting by the roadside, resulting in the fatalities,” Taitika said.
Taitika explained that the three survivors who included two adult males and one adult female were severely injured and are currently receiving treatment at Muyembe Health Centre IV in Bulambuli District and the bodies of the victims were taken to the Mortuary at the same Health Facility for postmortem examination.
