The territorial Traffic Police in Kabale District are hunting for a vehicle which is alleged to have knocked dead a pedestrian and there after drove off.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident which took place today at Nyakigugwe along Kabale – Mbarara highway.
Maate identified the deceased as 30 year old Gumisiriza Silver a resident of Muyumbo village in Kyanamira Sub-county in Kabale District, who is alleged to have been knocked by a speeding car from Kabale side while crossing the road and died on the spot.
Maate explained that when the Police were notified, they visited scene, documented it and the body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate also said that efforts to trace for the unknown vehicle are ongoing but appealed to anyone with information pertaining to the same vehicle, to volunteer it so that the law can take its course.
