NEWS- The Police in Rukungiri District have registered a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a 12 year old girl identified as Anita Akanyijuka a pupil at Nyarurambi Child Development Center primary school and a daughter to Ms Tushemerirwe Jovinta of Nyarurambi cell.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the accident occurred at Nyarurambi Cell, Kahoko Parish Nyakishenyi Sub county along Kisiizi – Kanungu road in Rukungiri District where motor vehicle registration number UAT 972L driven by one Ariho Gilbert, a resident of Nyarurambi village in Kahoko Parish in Nyakishenyi Sub county.
It’s alleged that, while the driver of the above Motor vehicle was driving from the direction of Kisiizi heading to Nyakishenyi town using Kisiizi – Kanungu murram road, and upon reaching Nyarurambi trading center, the driver found a group of pupils standing alongside the road and knocked the deceased who was rushed to Kisiizi hospital where she was pronounced dead due to overspeeding.
The Police were alerted and visited the scene visited, examined and documented and the wreckage retrieved and parked at Rukungiri Central Police Station pending IOV inspection and the he body was taken to Kisiizi Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem examination and the driver of the same Motor vehicle detained at Rukungiri Police Station.
