The Police in Kisoro district have registered a suspected case of suicide by hanging of a 45 year old man identified as Habiyakare Samuel, a Rwanda National and a Resident of Kagando Village, Gisozi Parish in Muramba Sub-county in Kisoro District.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Nelson Tumushime has confirmed the incident and explained that the deceased developed a misunderstanding with his wife in their rented House at Kagando Trading Centre.
The deceased chased his wife out of the house and locked himself inside the house and he was yesterday morning found inside his rented House dead hanging using a piece of cloth.
The Police in Kigezi Region has noted with serious concern an increase in cases of suspected suicide, just in September alone , Kisoro has registered about three cases of suspected suicide per week and continue to encourage members of the public undergoing stress , depression, financial difficulties and family problems to seek help early.
The Police also continue to work with Health teams religious leaders, civil society organizations and local leaders in sensitizing the communities on mental health and suicide prevention.
