MITOOMA – An angry mob has lynched a suspected cattle and goats’ thief in Mitooma district.
The deceased is Kijana Frank, a 32 year old casual worker and resident of Bitooma 2 cell, Bitooma parish, Katenga Sub – county in Mitooma district.
The deceased was now a suspect in the case of stealing cattle with 2 goats and had been tracked by the Police sniffer dog though he was not arrested because he ran away after seeing Police officers.
Later at around 7pm on 16th January, Katenga Police received information that he was lynched by angry residents after he re – appeared in the area.
Residents told our reporter that the deceased was a notorious criminal who could steal peoples’ animals and the 2 stolen goats were for Bigaruraho Paskazia.
By press time, Police had visited the scene, broken sticks suspected to have been used in beating the deceased recovered and the body was taken to Kitagata Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
The Greater Bushenyi Police spokesman SSP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed this incident to our reporter stressing that inquiries into the matter are still at hand.
