MITOOMA- Uganda’s Speaker of the 11th Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa has directed security authorities in Mitooma district to arrest citizens involved in vandalizing water pipes.

Tayebwa was on Friday January 31st 2025, speaking during the handover of nine classroom blocks whose construction was funded by NOUNS DAO ONCHAINS at Ndurumo primary school in Rwoburunga parish, Kiyanga sub-county, Mitooma district.

The construction is estimated to have cost 1.3 billion shillings.

The Deputy Speaker revealed that he received information that some people are cutting water pipes, using them in distilling local brew (Waragi) and this he said is disrupting water distribution to the rest of the community members.

Tayebwa ordered security teams led by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) to swiftly arrest whoever is involved in this nasty practice, further threatening to sanction the arrest of whoever fails to implement his directive.
