KAMPALA- A forensic Expert has told Court that upon examination of the Henry Katanga killer Pistol; it tested positive to the DNA of his widow Molly Katanga, the deceased himself and one of the daughters, Patricia Kakwanzi.
According to this scientific evidence, the predominant DNA was that of the widow with that of the decease and their daughter being minor.
However the killer pistol has not been produced to court today because it was submitted for ballistic analysis.
Andrew Mubiru Kizimula; the police’s acting forensic director continued with his evidence giving the results of the DNA analysis on the exhibits that were forwarded to the Laboratory by police during investigations.
Mubiru has testified that after examination of most of the blood samples recovered from door handles to the master bedroom, balcony area and ceiling belonged to Molly Katanga.
Following the incident at their home on November 2, 2023, Molly Katanga was rushed to a nearby Bugolobi Medical Center for treatment.
Mubiru has however told court that during the analysis of some exhibits recovered from the master bedroom which is the scene of crime, there was two other untested DNA samples whose donors never belonged to any relatives of the couple.
Mubiru has also been able to identify the exhibits before court and the prosecution team sought to have his expert report and the exhibits tendered in court but the objected to the move, saying Mubiru is not the right witness to tender in the exhibits.
The Defence lawyers insist the police officers who recovered the samples should be called to exhibits them in court. The lawyers further accuse prosecution of denying them vital information requested which would have helped them to ably represented their clients.
