NEWS- The territorial Police in Rukiga District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of 35 year old man identified as Frank Turyatemba 35yrs a resident of Bwasha village in Rutengye Parish in Kashambya Sub County.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate told journalists that the Police have already arrested three people in connection with alleged murder and are helping with investigations and identified the suspects as 28 year old Niwabine Calorine, the wife to the deceased, Ms Akatwebembera Phiona aged 42 years and 38 year old Tayebwa Onesmus, a Timber Lumberer and brother to the deceased, all residents of the same address.
Mate said that it is alleged that the deceased and his brother who is now a suspect have been with long misunderstanding over land issues which they had reported to different offices, including the area LC and even the Police.
Its reported that on the 31st October 2024, the deceased went to sell charcoal and returned home at night while drunk, knocked on the door and the wife opened for him served him food, but was unable to eat and told his wife that his brother Tayebwa had met him along the way and assaulted him and was feeling pain in the stomach.
The deceased Turyatemba told his wife to go and tell his mother what was killing him, and the wife went and called the mother in law who refused to open and told her she would see him in the morning, and when the wife went back, she found when her husband was already dead in his bed and went directly and reported at Kashambya police station.
Maate told journalists that the scene of crime was visited and statements recorded from relevant wittiness and the three suspects arrested to help Police in investigations and the body was referred to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination and was later handed over to the relatives for decent burial as investigations continue.
