NEWS- The Police in Rukungiri have arrested 3 people in connection with alleged murder of 50-year-old woman identified as Auma Doreen female adult, a resident of Kanshekye II Cell, in Eastern Ward of Bikurungu Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident and identified the suspects as Arimpisya Arthur Esau, Karuhize Yoramu and Kyomukama Moreen.
Maate told journalists that the case was reported by Lt Ogwanga Tokwiny Richard a UPDF soldier attached to 19th Battalion Nchwera Barracks in Rwenshama in Rukungiri District.
Lt Ogwang is reported to have received a phone call from a good Samaritan informing him that his sister Auma Doreen had been struck by lightning and thunder at her home and when he got the information, he decided to proceed to the home of the deceased located in Kanshekye II Cell -Bikurungu Town Council to confirm what had occurred.
Maate explained that upon arrival in Bikurungu Town and before reaching the sister’s home, a resident whose names have been withheld due to security reasons, stopped him and told him that his sister was not struck by lightning and thunder as alleged but rather she was assaulted by one Arimpisya on allegation that she had abused his father one Karuhize Yoramu who is the father -in- law.
Lt Ogwang then proceeded up to the deceased’s home and confirmed that it was not lightning and thunder that caused the death of his sister and he immediately reported the matter at Bikurungu Police Post for further investigation.
Maate disclosed that a case of suspected murder was registered at Bikurungu Police Post and the Criminal Investigations Department at Rukungiri Central Police Station was informed co-currently to carry out throughout investigations.
The Scene of Crime was visited, examined and documented by the district Scene of Crime Officer, the homicide detectives and the territorial Police and the body was retrieved and conveyed to the Rwakabengo Health Center III Mortuary where postmortem examination was carried out, which confirmed that the deceased was indeed assaulted and sustained internal bleeding which caused her death and the 3 have been arreste to assist in investigations.
