Before being granted bail, the accused’s lawyers first watered down the grounds given by the prosecutor that included fears by the state about the possible interference with the witness as well as jeopardizing the ongoing investigations; something they said was mere speculations that courts do not work on.

In her submission, Chief Magistrate Beatrice Kainza has told the defense lawyers as she has been satisfied with the applicants’ applications, the sureties have been substantial.

The suspects have been asked to pay cash bail of 5 million shillings each, deposit their original passports in court and not be allowed to move outside the country without the permission of court.

She has added that the trial is in its early stages and there is no clear time frame when the investigations will be completed adjourning the case to November 26th.
