NEWS- The Police have arrested two suspects in connection of kidnap and aggravated robbery that took place in Rukungiri Municipality on the 20th January 2024 along Republic Road.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the robbery incident took place where a 24 year old Atwine Daniel, a student and a resident of Kitanda Cell Nyakaina Parish Buyanja Sub County in Rukungiri district, was robbed of Ugx 31.8 million by suspects using motor vehicle registration number UBH 905Y.
Maate explained that after thorough follow up and investigations, the motor vehicle used in the commission of the offense, which had been blacklisted by Pollice was sighted and impounded and the driver identified as Tugeineyo Isaac was arrested to aid the investigations.
Maate said that when the motor vehicle was then searched, items of evidential value were recovered; and these included 2 sharp pangas, a knife, a factory rope of about 2 metres, 10 litre jerrican, a pair of white canvas shoes, two shirts, 2 pairs of jeans trousers and all have been exhibited.
Maate said that the owner of the motor vehicle identified as Ainebyona Angellous was also arrested for further questioning and the two suspects appeared before court on the 30th January 2025 for plea on two counts of kidnap and aggravated robbery as investigations continue.
