NEWS- Authorities in Bunyangabu District have confirmed that two people have died and others were injured following landslides that swept Katebwa Sub-county today morning.
The dead were identified as 3 year old month Muhindo Joan and Mumbere Jamil, a 5 years old who died following a heavy down pour in Masibwe village, Buhumba parish in Katebwa Sub-County in Bunyangabu District.
The rain was heavy, and caused heavy flooding and running debris covered houses and this led to loss of lives and property.
Uganda Red Cross emergency response team is now on the ground and has established that 65 households are affected in the community and the team on ground continues to further conduct rapid assessment, offer physco-social support to the affected families, as well as warning signs to those in vulnerable areas.
Together with the District Disaster Management Committee, the Uganda Red Cross team will make a detailed report is to be issued to the Office of the Prime Minister for relief distribution.
