Wreckage of the vehicle involved in accident

KAMPALA- Two people have been confirmed dead and 8 others severely injured in a road crash along the Lubaga road opposite Luqman Petrol station in the city center.

The Traffic Police Spokesperson Michael Kananura, has said the crash occurred at around 6:30 am, when a speeding Toyota Hiace vehicle traveling the side of Sanyu babies Home on Butikirl road, failed to brake while descending a slope.

Preliminary traffic report has indicated that the vehicle lost control and rammed into a building alongside the road, killing instantly two people, including the driver.

8 other occupants were severely injured, current nursing injuries at Mengo and Mulago National Referral Hospitals.

The yet identified bodies have also been conveyed to the city mortuary Mulago for the postmortem reports, while the vehicle towed to Old Kampala Police station for inspection.

Police have since cautioned motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits, particularly in urban areas, and ensuring vehicle maintenance to prevent the continuous tragedies.

The number of people knocked on Ugandan roads has increased from 12 to 13 people per day, according to traffic recent police statistics.
