NEWS– The Police in Kabalagala have arrested two Eritrean nationals on allegations of murdering their colleague in a bar brawl.
The deceased has been identified as Hannibal Tewelde aged 30yrs, an Eritrean National, and refugee resident of Lukuli zone Makindye Division who was killed in Kabalagala on Monday evening.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango has identified the suspects as Siem Fustem, and Henok Foto, all Eritrean Nationals and refugees of the same area who are currently detained at Katwe Police Division on charges of murder.
The Police Preliminary findings have indicated that the suspects were at My Place Bar within A.D plaza apartment along Kibuli road, drinking and a fight ensued. The trio started fighting each other and the deceased was hit on the head using bottles of beer and he collapsed.
“The deceased was rushed to Nsambya hospital for medical attention by the suspects, upon their arrival he was pronounced dead. The case was reported at Kabalagala police station.” Onyango said.
Police detectives from the homicide at Kabalagala have visited the scene and recorded statements from relevant witnesses, while the body was taken to Mulago city mortuary for post-mortem examination.
The 2023 police annual crime report indicated that police recorded 4,366 cases of people murdered, which was an average of 12 victims a day, with assault, mob action and strangulation contributing to the highest numbers of deaths.
