KAGADI- The Albertine Region Police spokesperson Julius Hakiza has disclosed that two people were killed after they attempted to attack security personnel investigating the gruesome slaughter of family members in Kagadi District.

Hakiza told journalists today October 30th 2024, that Obedi Baguma and David Munyirambe, were killed while attempting to attack security forces.

The security forces had responded to reports of a murder incident that occurred yesterday in Mizizi A Village, Kyaterekera Su-county where unknown assailants attacked residents and at least seven people, including children, were slaughtered, while eight others sustained injuries during the attack.

A joint team of Police officers, led by Kagadi District Police Commander Kenneth Ampurira and army personnel responded to the incident and are investigating the incident, but the motive behind the attack remains unknown and are appealing to the public to provide any information regarding this incident.

The Police have identified the dead victims as Boniface Rogers Nyirambe, Isakara Yokononia, Norah Kabuwere, Praise Muhindo, Anitah Kabugho, Masika Kabagenyi, Ferdinand Baluku and Olive Kabugo.

Hakiza told journalists that the killing remains a mystery and while locals had initially suspected Allied Democratic Front rebels, security forces have since ruled that out and the Public Information Officer for the Mountain Division and Operation Shuuja, Major Billal Katamba said in that preliminary information indicates the handiwork of a yet-to-be established religious cult.
