NEWS– The Executive Director of Uganda Bureau of Statistics Dr. Chris Mukiza who is also the Census Commissioner for the just concluded 2024 National Housing and Population Census has announced that the preliminary results will be disseminated on 24th June 2024.
According to a press release dated May 28th 2024, Dr. Mukiza said that Uganda Bureau of Statistics is committed to the Census Roadmap following the closure of the Census exercise as it embarks on the data processing, editing and analysis.
Dr. Mukiza said that the preliminary dissemination of Census results will be followed by release of provisional results on 24th September 2024 and the final Census report will be published on December 24th 2024.
Dr. Mukiza revealed that by the close of the Census exercise on 26th May, 99% of Ugandans had been enumerated and thanked all Ugandans who responded, cooperated and supported the exercise and Uganda Bureau of Statistics consider the enthusiasm in the two week exercise as a sign of confidence in the census processes.
He however pointed out that some Ugandans were not enumerated because they locked their gates and the enumerators could not access their premises, while others were single household members who were always away at work in factories and mines and others simply refused to be enumerated.
The Census Commissioner said that in line with the international accepted best practices, the Post Enumeration Survey (PES) that is aimed at validating the coverage and quality of data collected during the exercise will be conducted in July 2024.
Post Enumeration Survey is an independent statistical activity to be conducted by a team of experts that did not participate in the just concluded census exercise.
