KAMPALA- Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) is pleased to inform the public that the conduct of the July/August 2024 examinations series across the country began on 2nd August 2024  and will end on 30th August at 454 examination centres.

The Board has successfully registered a total of 58,995 candidates for the July-August 2024 examinations series. Of these candidates, 18,742 are female and 40,253 are male.

In accordance with UBTEB rules on the conduct of examinations, the Board conducted the briefing of Area Coordinators and Centre Supervisors on Friday, 26th July 2024 at UBTEB Secretariat.  It is our hope that all centres briefed candidates on the 2nd August 2024 as expected to ensure the smooth conduct of examinations.

The Board informs all the institutions that all preparations of briefing Reconnoiters and delivery of all the necessary examination materials at various storage facilities commenced today Saturday, 3rd August, 2024 across the country with the help of the Uganda Police Force.

As part of enhancing inclusive education, the Board has registered a total of 76 candidates with special needs pursuing various TVET professions. The categories are; Dyslexia 13, Visual impairment 26,   hearing impairment 16, Hard of hearing, and Physical disability 21. The Special needs candidates will be accorded special examinational arrangements such as sign language interpreters, transcribers, and guides.  While the rest will be accorded extra time and large fonts.  The Board has accordingly deployed over 100 support personnel to assist candidates with special needs.

In a bid to minimize the reoccurrence of examination malpractices, the Board encourages all Heads of Centres to ensure that Examination task forces at the institutional level are well briefed on the conduct of examinations. This task force is responsible for ensuring that examinations are done in compliance with UBTEB rules and standards.  The Heads of Centres are encouraged to highlight the penalties for examination malpractices if caught and to remain at training institutions throughout the examination period.

The Board also sent a team of senior Managers to participate in the briefing of candidates at selected examinations centres across the country. This team shall as well ensure that the examinations centres are conforming to the set examinations rules and guidelines.

As part of vigilance and ensuring the security of examinations, the Board has deployed over 600 Reconnoiters and other monitors.  Given the practical and hands-on assessment of some modules, the Board will also deploy over 4000 Practical Assessors and verifiers to conduct on-the-spot practical assessments of candidates.

The Board continues to appeal to all Heads of centers to adhere to the UBTEB rules and regulations on the conduct of examinations. The Board encourages all candidates to desist from involvement in any form of examinations’ malpractices. Any form of involvement shall attract severe penalties ranging from cancellation of all results for the entire semester/term to imprisonment or caution.

The Board remains committed to quality TVET examinations and assessment according to the Board’s Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye (CPA).
