UCAA workshop at Ankole Resort and Spa Ntungamo

NTUNGAMO- The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has carried out a Search and rescue – Aeronautical sensitisation campaign in the districts with high flight routes to various countries to respond and mitigate emergencies in the communities.

According to David Mwitabangoma the principal Air Traffic Management Officer- Search and Rescue at Uganda Civil Aviation Authority who represented the director Bamwesigye Fred Kanyangoga the campaign will increase awareness and enhance cooperation among the community members to avert aircraft emergencies.

 He made remarks today during the Search and rescue – Aeronautical workshop at Ankole Resort and Spa Ntungamo Municipality which attracts political leaders, civil servants, Red Cross and media.

Mwitabangoma noted that Ntungamo district is one the districts where many international flights pass through to other countries including Brazil and South Africa which needs urgent attention to control aircraft accidents.

The RDC Ntungamo Byaruhanga Isaiah Kanyamahaane commended the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority for revamping the airline flights to various destinations across the globe.

 Kanyamahaane noted that the engagement will foster collaboration in case of any incident occurrences in communities.

 He said that the gesture will empower the community to prepare and mitigate any flight emergency before being escalated and called upon all participants to report emergencies to the relevant authorities through rightful channels.

The LC3 Chairperson for Rweikiniro Sub County, Bitariho Sebastiano and Rumanzi Perezi of Daily monitor pledged to intensify the sensitization campaign to the community on such emergencies and appealed to the government to construct an airfield to showcase the beautiful scenery in the district.
