KAMPALA- The Uganda Prisons Service has announced that they will recruit members of the public will to join them in ensuring security of the Prisoners.

In a statement released this week, applicants will need to deliver their applications to the nearest Prison Units or one of the 19 Regional Prisons Headquarters: South Eastern (Jinja), Iganga (Iganga), East Central (Mukono), Mid-Eastern (Soroti), Eastern (Mbale), North Eastern (Moroto), Kampala Extra (Luzira) or Central Region (Security House near Prisons Headquarters), North Central (Luwero).

Others are Mid-Western (Masindi), Southern (Masaka), Kooki (Lyantonde), North Western (Arua), Mid Northern (Lira), Northern (Gulu), South Western (Mbarara), Western (Fort Portal), Mid Central (Mubende), or Kigezi (Kabale), within the area not later than14th March, 2025.

Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews on dates that will be communicated. Successful applicants should be prepared to undergo a minimum nine-month basic Prisons Officer’s Training Course. Effective appointment into the service is contingent upon successful completion of the training.

The statement also has it that presentation of forged documents or impersonation is a criminal offense and will be prosecuted in a court of law. All stages of the recruitment process are free of charge.

“Please refrain from paying any money to anyone for any service during the recruitment exercise”.
