KAMPALA- The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has briefed the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, ahead of the release of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results.
Uganda National Examinations Board Spokesperson Ms Juliet Kalule revealed that the briefing will pave the way for the official release of the results scheduled for Friday, February 7th, at 11 am at State House Nakasero.
This will be the second set of national exam results to be released this year, following the release of the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results in January.
Several Education stakeholders have been invited to attend the briefing, which will be led by Uganda National Examinations Board Chairman Prof Celestine Obua and UNEB Executive Director, Dr Dan Odongo together with other officials.
The Ministry of Education and Sports officials who including Mrs Janet Kataha Museveni, the State Minister for Primary Education Hon Monica Kaducu and the State Minister for Higher Education, Hon John Chrysostom Muyingo, will attend the event.
The UCE results are eagerly awaited by students, parents, and educators across the country and the results will determine the future academic prospects of the students, with those performing well eligible to proceed to Advanced Level education.
It should be noted that this year’s UCE exams marked a historic shift in the country’s educational framework, as candidates were assessed under the new lower secondary curriculum for the first time.
To facilitate a smooth transition, Uganda Certificate of Education candidates sat for two separate sets of exams: one under the new curriculum and another referred to as the transition examination.
This year’s UNEB’s theme for the 2024 exams was “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment,” reflects the board’s commitment to adapting to the changing educational landscape.
