NEWS- Uganda Peoples Defence Force, Uganda Police and other security organizations on Tuesday February 6th 2024, celebrated 43rd Tarehe Sita Anniversary in style at Kihihi High School playground in Kihihi Town Council in Kanungu District.
While speaking at the function, the Chief Guest, the UPDF 2nd Division Commanding Officer Brigadier General Paul Muhanguzi asked the UPDF to keep their professionalism and patriotism in protecting and defending Uganda.
Brig Gen Muhanguzi emphasized that the UPDF has reached at a level of showing the civilian population their professional growth and this will be seen from their deeds especially when they interact with the population.
The Tarehe Sita celebrations in Kanungu were graced by many leaders led by the Resident District Commissioner Ambrose Mwesigye Amanyire, the Chairperson LC 5 Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo, the District NnRM Chairman Godfrey Karabenda, the Deputy RDC Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju the Mayor Kihihi Town Council Sostine Atwine Buregyeya among many others and several religious leaders.
Before the celebrations at Kihihi High School Playgrounds, the Officers and Men of the 307 Brigade at Mburameizi in Nyakinoni Sub County led by the Brigade Commanding Officer Lt Col Robert Nahamya took part in cleaning Urban Centers in the district that included Kihihi Town Council, Kihihi Daily Market, Butogota Town Council, Buhoma Town Council and Kanungu Town Council.
The Army clad in their uniform, was joined by their counterparts from the Uganda Police, the Uganda Prisons and Uganda Wildlife Authority and opened the drainage flow areas and carried all the garbage in the Urban Areas as a corporate social responsibility for the population they live with.
While speaking at the same function the RDC Mwesigye Amanyire called upon the residents to work together with all security operatives to create political stability, security and transformation since Kanungu boarders with Democratic Republic of Congo.
After the function, the UPDF Football team carried the Tarehe Sita Trophy and a Goat after defeating Kihihi Town Council Football Club by One Goal to Nil on penalty shoot outs after the two teams drew 1:1 in the thrilling normal 90 minutes play.
The football match was held at Kihihi High School Playground and was witnessed by a mammoth crowds from all over the District and beyond.
The National Tarehe Sita celebrations took place at Busesa Playground in Bugweri District where the Guest of Honor was President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who was accompanied by his wife Mrs Janet Kataha Museveni and other nationalists.

Kanungu District Leaders that included LC 5 Chairman Eng Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo and RDC Ambrose Mwesigye Amanyire joined the 2nd Division Commander Brig Gen Paul Muhanguzi and 307 Brigade Commander Lt Col Robert Nahamya to match through Kihihi Town Council streets at the 43rd Tarehe Sita celebrations.
