NEWS- The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs has denied falsehoods media reports being spread by Jules Mulumba claiming that the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) is in Rutshuru in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to a Press Statement issued by the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs who is also the UPDF Spokesman Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye dated February 15th 2024, Mulumba attempted to desperately authenticate his claims by using pictures of the UPDF that were part of the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) to make his falsehoods.
Brig Gen Kulayigye said that the pictures were taken when Uganda’s UPDF contingent to the East African Community Regional Force was in Tsengero General Area on Bunagana – Rutshuru to Goma Axis and not Sake as Mulumba has claimed.
“Mulumba who is the Spokesman of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) also known as Wazalendo,vis trying to justify their losses to the M23 Group with such allegations,” Brig Gen Kulayigye said in the Press Statement.
Brig Gen Kulayigye made it categorically clear that the UPDF has no reason to be involved in an internal conflict, except when it is a Regional Peace Effort.
