RUKUNGIRI- The Uganda People’s Defence Forces- UPDF Engineering brigade yesterday renovated structures at Makobore High School in Western Division Rukungiri Municipality for official usage as they wait for commissioning in the near future.
The function was presided over by the Rukungiri District Resident Commissioner Steven Nsubuga Bewayo who hailed the government of Uganda under the stewardship of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for availing Ugx 1.4Bn that was put to this activity.
RDC Bewayo was grateful to the foundation body led by the North Kigezi Diocesan Bishop Onesmus Asiimwe, Old boys and Minister Jim Muhwezi Katugugu for the efforts invested in having this project take shape.
Bewayo tasked students to safeguard these renovated structures for the coming generations, and tasked the administrators to ensure an improvement in academic performance now that they have enough infrastructures and the enrolment is steadily growing.

Capt. Yunus Ntegeka the Western Regional Project Manager for UPDF attributed the success at Makobore High School to cooperation between all the parties involved and a conducive working environment accorded by the administrators. He however pointed out that they would at times be pushed to allow students use the structures before the mandatory time since the project was ongoing during schooling days.

Makobore High School Headteacher Gad Arinaitwe Gakibayo noted that before the renovation, the school was in poor condition pointing out that since the UPDF took up the renovation of the school, student enrollment has increased significantly from 130 last year to 693 currently.

Robert Nuwamanya the Rukungiri Municipality town clerk narrated the steep journey he took together with fellows in having this project sealed stressing that it was only God’s grace that saw them maneuver.
Nuwamanya stressed that now all is done, the school administrators and founders must utilize these structures to post stellar performance that will bring back their glory.

The function was graced by the Very Reverend Amatsiko Niwegariho who represented the Bishop Onesmus Asiimwe, Rukungiri Municipal Mayor Charles Makuru, Rukungiri Municipal Councilors, Municipal heads of departments, Makobor High School staff, students’ leaders among others.
The renovated infrastructure include kitchen, dining hall, staff room, headteacher’s residence and office, dormitories, ablution among others.
