WAKISO– The Police in Kampala Metropolitan area say, at least two people were killed on Tuesday night during a scuffle in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso district.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson identified one of the deceased persons as Nalumansi Evelyne Zaliya Kilonde Katende, 50, a resident of Mpangala Cell, Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District.

The second victim according to Owoyesigyire was an unidentified individual dressed in UPDF camouflage attire.

The incident according to the Deputy Police Spokesman occurred on July 23, 2024, at approximately 8:00 PM at Buddo Junction, Nakasozi Cell, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.

He further said a suspect in connection with this shooting had been arrested but never disclosed his identity to avoid sabotaging their investigations.

The suspect, whose identity is being withheld to avoid compromising the investigation, alleges that the deceased male in UPDF attire and others, currently at large, intercepted and kidnapped him earlier in the day while he was with friends and family in Buwama according to Owoyesigyire.

The suspect told the Police that he was transferred to the alleged kidnappers’ vehicle, registration number UAK 375U, a silver Toyota Progress.

And that upon reaching Buddo, the suspect claims to have managed to disarm one of the kidnappers, leading to the shootout that resulted in the deaths of the alleged kidnapper and a passerby, Nalumansi Evelyne Zaliya.

Eyewitnesses said they heard about five bullets during the incident.

Owoyesigyire said bodies of the deceased have been transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for post-mortem examinations.

“Our detectives are actively working to uncover the events that led to this tragic incident. Materials of evidential value that include a Pistol have been recovered and will aid in the ongoing investigations,” he emphasized.
