RUBIRIZI- Muslims have been challenged to always keep peace in the community rather than sabotaging it.

This was sounded by Sheikh Imurani Bukenya while leading Juma prayers at Kibuye mosque in Rubirizi Town council on 5th January 2024.

Sheikh Imurani revealed that as Muslims, they have never trained anyone to go to the bush to fight against the government thus urging the government to arrest those involved in such acts and charge them in courts of law because they are tarnishing the Islamic religion name since most people now look at the whole religion as “terrorists”, something he says is untrue.

His words come at a time when the countrymen and women are living in fear due to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) threat where even some people have already lost their lives, relatives and friends.

Speaking after the Juma prayers, Hon Kesande Grace (Rubirizi district Woman Member of Parliament) MP tasked Muslim leaders to incorporate messages of improving household incomes in their teachings stressing that preaching the word of Allah to the poor and hungry people is so difficult.

Hon. Kesande contributed Ugx 700,000= (Seven Hundred thousand shillings only) to the Muslim community so that they can buy land and extend their services. She called upon men to work towards supporting their wives and daughters’ dreams so that their opportunities can also be open.

She advised men not to fear marrying powerful women saying “having a powerful woman doesn’t make the man less powerful and responsible as a saying goes: behind every successful man is a woman”.

Muslims who talked to our reporter including Madam Kyomugisha Mayishara thanked their leaders for preaching good messages and also thanked Hon Kesande Grace for always supporting the Muslim community in Rubirizi district.
