NEWS- The Police Rukungiri have arrested a 19 year old girl identified as Generous Ainembabazi and are hunting for Godfrey Twongyirwe following the allegedly murder of their two weeks baby boy.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists today morning that Ainembabazi, a resident of Kyahi village in Karuhembe Parish in Kebison Subcounty fell in love with Twongirwe and she conceived a baby.
It is alleged that Twongyirwe having realized that his girlfriend was pregnant, took her to stay with his parents at Makiro Village in Mabanga Parish also in Kebisoni Subcounty where she delivered a baby boy on 22nd December 2023 and it was at this time the mother of Twongyirwe, one Asiimwe Kellen mentioned how the baby wasn’t their blood and eventually on the 7th January 2024 chased her from her home.
Ainembazi is reported to have found her boyfriend at the home of Mbyemire John Bosco in Kyahi village where he was working and staying and dumped the baby in an abandoned latrine.
It was yesterday when Mbymeire asked for the whereabouts of the newly birn child and when Ainembabazi opened up and told him he reported the matter at Mabanga Police Post for further management.
The Police visited the scene was visited and the Fire and Rescue services retrieved the body and conveyed it to Rwakabengo Health Centre III Mortuary for postmortem examination to ascertain the actual cause of the death and Ainembabazi was accordingly detained as Twongyirwe remains on the run.
Meanwhile the Police in Kanungu have arrested a 33 year old man identified as Gideon Mugabirwe for alleged murder of his 17 year old daughter Precious Kyosimire and critically injuring of his wife one Faustina Katuhebwa all residents of Kempazi village in Kikongi Parish in Bwambara Sub county in Rukungiri district.
Elly Maate told journalists today morning that the incident took place yesterday at Kahama village in Nyakashure Parish in Nyamirama Subcounty at their place of work where they were burning charcoal.
Maate explained that trouble started when the man who is now now suspect started demanding some money from his wife Katuhebwa while asleep and in the due course of quarreling, he picked apanga and had to cut both the biological daughter and his wife who sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Kihihi Health Centre for treatment, but the daughter was reffered to Nyakibale hospital in Rukungiri District where she was pronounced dead.
Police was informed and the scene was visited and documented and postmortem examination and a case of murder was registered at Kihihi Police Station under reference number CRB 017/2024 to help in investigations.
