The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a yet to be identified female adult whose body was discovered in the waters of river Ntungwa at Kiruruma cell in Rushaki Parish in Nyamirama Sub-county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident and explained that the area LC Chairman Sabit Turyagyenda Julius received a phone call from one of his residents informing him that there was a dead body floating on waters of River Ntungwa in Kiruruma cell.
Maate said that the Chairman together with other residents went to the river and found a decomposing dead body of a female adult unknown to the residents and the matter was immediately brought to the attention of the Police.
When the Police was informed, detectives visited the scene of crime which was thoroughly examined and documented and the body was retrieved and conveyed to Kambuga Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate has since appealed to anyone missing person to visit the Kambuga Hospital Mortuary so is identified and taken for a decent burial as investigations and efforts to have her identified are being made.
