The Uganda Prisons Service, through its Product Promotion, Marketing and Distribution Department, has exhibited a wide range of prison-made products and services as part of the 14th Africa Public Service Day celebrations which was held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The exhibition showcased the transformative power of prison rehabilitation through furniture and carpentry products which include high-quality office and household furniture handcrafted by inmates from prison workshops across the country.

They also showcased the maize seed varieties which are certified high yielding seeds grown on Uganda Prisons Services farms under the agricultural production and seed multiplication program.

There was also environmental conservation initiatives that showcased soil testing and analysis, clean energy innovations and waste-to-product concepts aligned with Uganda Prisons Service green agenda and there was also artisanry and handmade crafts which have  eautifully made crafts by inmates, demonstrating skill, creativity, and the effectiveness of correctional skilling programs.

The event brought together many government departments and agencies to show how public servants are helping improve people’s lives which included exhibitions, sports and learning from each other. 

Uganda Prisons Service stood out with their great work in rehabilitation, skills training, and winning the sports competitions as the government of Uganda remains committed to building a strong, caring, and reliable public service that puts citizens first.

While speaking at the event, the Prime Minister Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja impressed excitement of the craftsmanship and design quality of the prison-made furniture and artisanal products and commended the Uganda Prisons Service for integrating vocational skilling, rehabilitation and productive labor in the correctional system and she placed an official order for home furniture, citing the impressive quality, finish and value for money.
