The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the missing child which occurred on the 11th August 2025 from their home at Rugandu Village in Katojo Parish in Rutenga Sub-county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the victim as a 2 year old Ninsima Elizabeth, a daughter to Felix Byarugaba and a resident of the same above address.
Maate told journalists that it’s alleged that, on the 11th August 2025, Byargaba and his wife while at their home entered their house to rest, leaving the victim outside playing with another child of their neighbor.
However, on coming out after about 40 minutes, the victim was nowhere to be seen and the search was conducted in the neighborhood and surrounding areas but in vain and later a report was made at Rutenga Police Station and announcements made on the local radios, but still the victim is not yet recovered.
Maate described the incident as very unfortunate and appealed to adults to always ensure that they are in control of the young ones 24/7 and not leave them alone to avoid similar incidents against the innocent children.
He said that inquiries are underway and efforts to have the child recovered are being made.
