Police Field Force Unit in Kigezi Sub Region undergoing comprehensive training

The Uganda Police Force is gearing up for the 2026 general elections with a comprehensive training program for its personnel.

In the Kigezi Sub region, the Field Force Unit is conducting a one-week residential Public Order Management training at the former National Teachers College in Kabale.

The training is headed by Ulama David from the Police national headquarters and it is also being overseen by the Kigezi region Police Commander Wabwire Alex and Field Force Unit Zonal Commander Amos Ategeka.

Axcording to Kigegezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate, the key focus areas during the trainong include Crowd Control Techniques, Refreshing skills to effectively manage crowds, Maintain public order, tactical Maneuvers and Enhancing tactical skills to respond to various situations.

Other areascof focus are Use of Explosives, Training on safe handling,  Deployment of explosives, Conflict Resolution,  Developing skills to resolve conflicts peacefully risk Assessment,  Identifying potential risks and Developing strategies to mitigate them.

Maate said that the training’s participants include 341 personnel from Field Force Unit, General Duties, CID, Criminal Intelligence and Traffic departments and assures the residents that the training exercises are routine preparations for the elections and should not cause any alarm.
