The Prime Minister Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja yesterday represented President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Egypt.
In his message, President Museveni congratulated his counterpart, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the government, and the people of the Arab Republic of Egypt on the historic milestone.
The President observed that the occasion was not only a celebration of Egypt’s ancient civilisation, but also a proud milestone for Africa and the entire world.
He noted that Grand Egyptian Museum stands as a magnificent symbol of human creativity, knowledge and resilience, preserving the spirit of Africa’s enduring contribution to global civilisation.
The President commended the people of Egypt for their vision, commitment and achievement in constructing an architectural masterpiece that serves as a beacon of heritage, scholarship and cultural diplomacy.
Rt Hon Nabbanja later m held a meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sewilam and their discussion focused on opportunities for cooperation in harnessing the River Nile’s potential to generate more electricity for the benefit of all Nile Basin countries.
