The Police in Kisoro District are actively investigating circumstances under which two people were allegedly robbed by unknown gang, last night at Bihuru village in Gasinza Parish in Nyakabande Sub- County.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the two victims of the robbery as 20 year old Ndyowawe Ishamel, the manager at KG Mini Petrol Station at Bihuru village and 26 year old Birungi Sarah a businesswoman owning a shop at Bihuru village.

Maate said that it’s alleged that two men putting on face masks and one of them armed with a gun, attacked one Ishamel while at the fuel station and ordered her to hand over a bag of money that contained her evening sales and ordered not to risk making any alarms if she needed her life.

The victim upon seeing the gun, feared and handed over the bag and there after, the two suspects proceeded to the shop of Birungi Sarah about 30 metres from KG Petrol Station and also ordered her to open her shop drawer and hand over all the money in that drawer which she also did for fear of her life and the amount of money robbed from each of the women.

After the robbery, the suspects fired two bullets while fleeing the scene and they disappeared to an unknown location and immediately, the manager informed her boss Kamaana Elisa who in turn reported the matter to Kisoro District Police Commander and the scene of crime was immediately visited,

examined, and documented, the police canine dog was introduced at the scene but it didn’t yield any positive results since the scene had been tempered with and two cartridges were recovered from the scene.

Maate told journalists today afternoon that investigations are underway, but some of these business premises like the Petrol Station usually work up to 2200hrs and are only operated by one woman each shift, they are supposed to employ a security guard as a means of target hardening and also install CCTV cameras for easy identification of the suspects.
