Cadreship identification within the NRM continues to nag, and unemployment among loyal cadres remains high. The situation has left many who have stood with the party for years feeling sidelined, with little hope of being absorbed into government programs despite their commitment.

A number of questions keep resurfacing: Should the blame fall on top leaders who appear hesitant to recruit younger cadres? Or does the issue lie with the appointing authority’s selection process?

Another concern is regional representation. Why is Kigezi not competing on the same level as other regions for the available positions? Cadres in the region say they also wish to share in the national cake and be recognized for the role they have played in the growth and strength of the NRM while they are still able to contribute.

The call is for a deliberate effort to identify, vet and deploy cadres across all regions based on service and capacity, ensuring that loyalty is matched with opportunity.

Cadre.
